A long but non-technical day hike from Starý Smokovec (15 min by car) – about 8 hours there and back on a marked trail.
Lomnický štít 2,634 m a.s.l.
The second-highest Tatra peak, straight in front of your balcony. A cable car from Tatranská Lomnica (10 min by car) takes you via Skalnaté pleso right to the summit – book tickets in advance.
Kežmarský štít 2,558 m a.s.l.
Lomnický štít's rugged neighbour to the east, towering above the Skalnaté pleso lake.
Skalnaté pleso 1,751 m a.s.l.
Mountain lake at the middle cable-car station with a restaurant and easy walks – also reachable on foot from Tatranská Lomnica. The ski slopes you see below lead down from here.
Belianske Tatry 2,152 m a.s.l.
The only limestone ridge of the Tatras, known for rare wildflowers. Belianska cave at its foot is a great rainy-day trip.
